What is an affiliate link?

Affiliate links are like regular URLs that take you to the products I recommend, but by clicking them, I earn a small commission based on your purchases. You don’t pay this commission, the company you shopped with does.

Why use them?

Creating fresh content for La Vie en Code is my full-time job!

In order to support myself while helping self-taught web development students achieve their dreams, I utilize affiliate links primarily to generate enough income to cover website expenses, such as hosting and web-based tools.

Are they safe?

Yes! Many of the websites you visit utilize affiliate links in their content, and should be providing you with an informative message like this, as well.

In terms of privacy, your purchase information is tracked by the affiliate marketing companies I work with (Impact Radius, Rakuten), not me (Nicole Archambault).

While I do have access to information about the types of products that folks who click these links buy, I do not have any identifying information about the customer themselves.

Which companies do I work with?

It is important to understand that I am not an employee of any company. I am affiliated with Treehouse as a code reviewer/mentor on a contract basis, but am not an employee of Treehouse. Regardless, I still try to keep my reviews for such an awesome company as impartial as possible. 🙂

My ultimate goal is to recommend the best products available for self-taught web developers, and you can rest assured that I stand behind each and every product on my site. In all cases, I review these products myself before recommending them.
